Ward 10 Coun. Dan Glenn-Graham and Ward 2 Coun. Berry Vrbanovic were among those that took a spin on the Big Bike during Sunday’s Bike Fest. The Big Bike seats 29 people and is a fundraiser for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. King Street was closed in front of city hall for Kitchener’s first-ever Bike Fest, which drew thousands of cyclists throughout the day.

New artistic bike racks and sharrows, as seen above, were installed on King Street Tuesday afternoon as part of a pilot project. Sharrows indicate that cyclists are allowed to take the lane, and city council hopes the initiative will make the downtown core more bicycle friendly.
