Concert raises awareness of missing adults

Kitchener Post staff

Ever since Tasha Smith disappeared from her Cambridge group home in December 2010, her stepmother Linda Little Smith has been looking for her, but also working to raise awareness of the missing. There are currently 13 missing adults from Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge.

Music 4 the Missing is a fundraising and awareness event being held Dec. 8 from 2 p.m. to midnight at the Chrysalid Theatre, 137 Ontario St. N., Kitchener. The event features entertainment from 12 musicians and a demonstration of traditional drumming and songs in Ojibway by Manitou Mkwa Singers (Spirit Bear Singers). There will also be a presentation about human trafficking, and another by the Native Women’s Association of Canada to raise awareness of the numbers of murdered and missing aboriginal women.

Admission is $5, and donations of non-perishable food and sleeping bags are encouraged. For more info, go to www.music4themissing.ca.
