The LINK Picnic Festival takes place this weekend in Victoria Park. This is the seventh annual LINK picnic in Kitchener.
Celebrating the best of Africa and the islands, the festival features a Carnival costume parade, steelpan yard and children’s area.
The mainstage will include various styles of music including reggae, jazz, folk and hiphop. There are workshops for drumming and cultural cooking, as well as a jerk cook-off competition.
The LINK Picnic Festival runs Aug. 25 from noon to 9 p.m. and Aug. 26 from noon to 8 p.m. Admission is free and everyone is welcome. For more info go to www.linkpicnicfestival.com.
