Charges pending after death of cyclist

Police say charges are pending in a collision that saw a Kitchener teen cyclist die from his injuries.

Curtis Hawley, 17, was crossing Ottawa Street North at about 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 12 when he was hit by a 2003 Honda Civic driven by a 20-year-old Kitchener resident.

Hawley was airlifted to a Hamilton hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was later moved to Grand River Hospital, where he died on Saturday.

The driver was not injured.

Waterloo Regional Police are still investigating the cause of the collision. Anyone with information is asked to contact the traffic services branch at 519 650 8500 ext. 8856 or e-mail traffic@wrps.on.ca.
