A local contingent of International Children's Games competitors were honoured by Kitchener city council recently.

Children’s Games contingent honoured

The Kitchener Post Team of the Week is the local contingent of International Children’s Games competitors. Nine athletes and two coaches were recognized by Kitchener city council recently for their participation at the Games in Daegu, South Korea this summer.

Representing Kitchener were Region of Waterloo Swim Club members Johanna Gross, Alyxandra Redlich-Stowe, Emma Rice, Lauren Shearer, Eric Bumbulis, Jacob Einwechter and coach Roberto Aburto. From the Top Spin Table Tennis Club, Lorena Tasadan, Alexander Foley, Andrew Ilyas and coach Valentin Strambu also attended the Games. Leta Bulgin headed the delegation.

The 2013 Games will be hosted by Windsor-Essex and feature athletics, baseball, basketball, gymnastics, soccer, swimming, tennis and volleyball.
